
The Grand Imam Renews His Appreciation for Thailand for the Warm Reception He Received during His Recent Southeast Asia Tour
Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of al-Azhar expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality he received from King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand, Queen Suthida and all Thai official and local institutions His Eminence visited during his trip to Thailand included in his recent Southeast Asia tour. This came while receiving Mr. Thanabordee Joothong, Chargé d’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy in Egypt, on Monday, during which the Grand Imam underlined that his visit to Thailand will have the greatest impact on fostering the mutual cooperation between Thailand and al-Azhar.
On his part, the Thai Chargé d’Affaires stressed his country’s gratitude for the efforts exerted by al-Azhar ash-Sharif to sponsor more than 2800 Thai students to study at al-Azhar. He also commended al-Azhar’s generosity for allocating 160 scholarships for the Thai Muslims, pointing out that the visit of His Eminence to Thailand had had the most positive reaction and welcoming from the Kingdom of Thailand and Thai people. He underscored as well that this visit contributed in breaking new grounds of cooperation with al-Azhar on the different educational and preaching levels.
