The Qardho branch of the Organization in Somalia held an awareness lecture titled “The Rights of the Child in Islam,” delivered by Abdullah Mahmoud, a member of the branch.
During the lecture, he highlighted Islam’s great emphasis on protecting and caring for children while safeguarding their rights from birth to adulthood. He explained that Quranic verses and Prophetic Hadiths stress the importance of a child’s status in society and the necessity of providing a safe and wholesome environment to support their healthy psychological, physical, and spiritual development.
He emphasized that one of the most important aspects of child protection in Islam is ensuring the child’s right to life and safety, the right to education, and protection from psychological harm. Furthermore, he stressed that these rights and provisions reflect the profound care Islam places on children as a sacred trust that must be safeguarded. He also highlighted the pivotal role of these principles in shaping a morally upright and capable generation for the future.
