Elias Abdul Rahman, a member of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates, emphasized during a Friday sermon titled “The Danger of Takfir,” delivered at the Islamic Education Mosque in Cotonou City, that the chaos of declaring Muslims as disbelievers (Takfir) is among the most dangerous challenges facing the Arab and Islamic nations today. He described it as a profound crisis affecting our societies, highlighting that the phenomenon of Takfir against dissenters, along with its resulting bloodshed, is not a new issue for Islamic societies, nor is its jurisprudence unfamiliar to Muslims.
This came as part of the branch’s participation in the campaign of “Azhari Flashes”, featuring a reading from al-Qawl at-Tayyeb, a book by His Eminence Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of al-Azhar.
