Prof. Shouman: Al-Azhar is a Trusted Institution for International Students
Prof. Abbas Shouman, President of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates – Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars, and Major General Wael Bekhit, Vice-President of the Organization’s Board of Directors, received a high-level delegation from Thailand. The delegation, led by Somchai Shi Wangma, Director of the Sheikh al-Islam Office in Thailand, met to discuss avenues of cooperation between the two parties.
Notably, Prof. Shouman emphasized that al-Azhar works for the benefit of society as a whole, not solely for Muslims. He added that al-Azhar, as an institution, strives to spread its message and promote a culture of integration among all members of society.
Furthermore, he highlighted that al-Azhar is a trusted institution with extensive expertise in engaging with multinational and multi-ethnic communities. He added that the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates, as one of its key branches, is committed to enhancing cultural and religious communication through its global network, including its branch in Thailand. He also stated, “We are prepared to train imams and preachers to hone their preaching skills and effectively convey al-Azhar’s message.”
