“The Importance of Tolerance and Pardon” A Seminar for Al-Azhar Graduates in Qardha, Somalia

The branch of the World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates in Qardho, Somalia, organized an awareness lecture for the Science Center students titled “The Importance of Tolerance and Pardon for Others.” The lecture was delivered by Sondos Liban, a member of the branch. It is worth noting that tolerance and pardon are among the core values emphasized and encouraged by Islam, due to their significant role in fostering societal harmony and promoting internal and external peace.

She explained that tolerance in Islam is essential for achieving human fraternity. Tolerance strengthens the bonds of love and intimacy among people, fostering serenity and peace in relationships. She highlighted that the Holy Quran urges us to practice tolerance, as reflected in the words of Allah Almighty: “So be forgiving with gracious forgiveness” [Q. 15:85]. Moreover, she emphasized that the foundation of a cohesive society lies in compassion and understanding, which help reduce disputes and conflicts while enhancing stability. Furthermore, she stressed that our Master Mohammad (PBUH) exemplified tolerance and forgiveness, even with his enemies. When Mecca was conquered, he said to Quraish: “Go, you are free.”

Additionally, she said, “It is important to pardon others to strengthen social ties. Pardoning others helps repair relationships, fosters understanding and friendship among people, and prevents harm and evil.”
