“Peaceful Coexistence”… A Seminar by al-Azhar Graduates in Benin

The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates branch in Benin convened a seminar under the title of “Peaceful Coexistence” in Parakou city. Mr. Hussein Ishaq Sila, member of the branch, explained that anyone following the Prophetic Sunnah will discover that it, perfectly, fosters the concept of peaceful coexistence, adding that when the Prophet (PBUH) arrived to Madinah, he found a blend of Muslims, polytheists and Jews.

He stressed that the Prophet (PBUH), amid such diversity and difference, was able to establish a balanced society based on peaceful coexistence. Mr. Hussein urged the necessity of ignoring the Fatwas circulating on social media that forbid congratulating non-Muslims on their feasts. He clarified that congratulating non-Muslims is permissible as long as they are peaceful, a thing stipulated by the esteemed Shari’ah as a sign of good neighborliness.
