The World Organization for al-Azhar Graduates’ branch in Qardho, Somalia, convened an awareness lecture for the students of Quran centers in Qardho city. The lecture came under the title of “Discipline Before Learning”, during which Mr. Abdullah al-Azhari, member of the branch, highlighted that a knowledge seeker should give a due care for discipline and morals; indeed, morals and disciplines form the basis on which good learners are raised.
The lecturer explained the main points to accomplish such mission, as follows:
A learner should demonstrate humbleness and respect for his/her instructor as well as showing earnestness and seriousness to attend in time. Additionally, the learner should respect rules and systems, display diligence in study and finish all his/her assignments. He/she should have patience and determination to attain their goals as well as behaving and cooperating with their colleagues. Additionally, a learner should have good intentions while gaining knowledge, and his/her aim is to gain Allah’s pleasure, serve the society and ignore worldly aspirations. The lecturer concluded his word by stressing the necessity of adhering to disciplines and morals, without these two principles, knowledge might lose its value. He underlined that seeking knowledge should be coupled with applying it to daily life so it might have a positive impact on society as a whole. This lecture came within the framework of a series of educating lectures seeking to strengthen the learners’ ethics.
