The Good Saying – Our Juristic Slandered Heritage

Prof. Ahmad al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar

People of sound knowledge and people of Fatwa in our days have been afflicted with mass-scale pressure and harassment that they have never seen. Well, I mean attacking the heritage of Muslims and jamming it by those who are not qualified to know it or understand it; they have neither knowledge, culture, good manners, nor respect for more than one and half billion who cherish this heritage and greatly appreciate it. Needless to say that this attack is marred by false claims to mislead young people, such as enlightening, freedom of creation, and right to expression claims, the right to change, even the right to change one’s religion. It has become customary to take phrases of jurists out of their context and indicative areas to look odd before being broadcast in discussion sessions, in which they attached to Shariah and jurisprudence through a dialog filled with sophistry, mistakes and disturbance, and the inability to understand the differences between the description of the act in itself and the legitimate effects of it.

It is not just a coincidence that destroying Islamic and Arab countries coincides with suspicious calls that arose at first timidly. Such calls were made for damaging the prestige and respect of elders; they looked down on this tradition, on which we were proud we raised our children, as a behavior that has no place in the modern culture of chaos. There is a weird plan to destroy the heritage of Muslims and make fun of its imams. Needless to say that all these are coinciding with a coordinated attack on al-Azhar, it has even become routine to condemn al-Azhar and its curricula after any terrorist accident in a failed attempt to discredit it in Muslim’s hearts that we even know the timing of the attack as we monitor it precisely and found that it occurs in one of two cases: In the first case, the attack occurs after the terrorist accidents, and in the second case, it occurs when al-Azhar manages to accomplish its mission at home or abroad. It is worth mentioning that the plan here is to be completely silent and hide the good deeds or to search for imperfections, announce and show them up.

Furthermore, the attack on the Islamic civilization coincides also with collective claims for the legalization of homosexuality as a human right. Besides, there is a strange insolence in the youth of the east, who was known for his manhood and his innate disgust of these deviations.
