The Grand Imam:
Today, we remember a long history of knowledge, thought, culture, and morality
The Grand Imam prays: “O Allah, safeguard al-Azhar ash-Sharif, enhance its protection and honor, and bestow blessings upon its scholars and students.”
His Eminence the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad at-Tayyeb pointed out that today marks the seventh day of Ramadan, as we recall a long history of knowledge, thought, culture, and morality, which has been provided to us. It is that great eternal edifice, and the long-standing mihrab, which is nearing its hundredth year after a thousand.
Furthermore, the Grand Imam clarified in a post on his official page on the social media platforms Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), that the first Friday prayer was held at al-Azhar Mosque in the year 361H, affirming that since that date, al-Azhar has rightfully assumed its esteemed position; a beacon of culture, a source of knowledge for scholars, students, and researchers, and a destination for learners from all corners of the earth. He concludes by praying: “O Allah, safeguard al-Azhar ash-Sharif, enhance its protection and honor, and bestow blessings upon its scholars and students.”
