Does Pronunciation with Intention (Niyyah) Have to be Performed Every Day During Ramadan?

Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon our master and messenger of Allah, and upon his family, companions, and those who follow him.

It is not necessary to articulate the intention (niyyah) for fasting as long as a person has intended fasting in their heart. It is only required to specify the intention before dawn, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever does not have the intention of fasting before dawn, then there is no fast for him” [Reported by An-Nasa’i]. However, it should be noted that each day should have a specific intention, as most scholars of jurisprudence have concluded. The Maliki school of thought holds that if a Muslim intends at the beginning of the month to fast for the entire month, then their fasting is valid. And Allah knows best.

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our Master Mohammad and all his family and companions. All praise and thanks be to the Lord of the worlds.
