What is the legal judgement concerning a Muslim who suddenly falls sick during the day of Ramadan?

Praise is due to Allah Almighty and peace be upon the Prophet (PBUH), his family, companions and followers;

If a Muslim suddenly becomes sick during the holy month of Ramadan, the ruling varies according to his/her health condition. If that sickness makes fasting unbearable or causes additional suffering, then breaking the fast is permissible until he/she recovers; yet he/she must make up for the missed days at any other time after Ramadan, as Allah Almighty says: “Whoever is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramadan” [Q:2:185]. However, if breaking the fast has no significant impact on improving one’s health, then it shall be impermissible. All this depends on the assessments of trusted physicians.
